Third Computer, First Laptop

After 3 years of using the same old desktop, I’ve decided it’s high time to get a new computer. I spent 2 weeks agonizing over which of the 189 IBM ThinkPads to get (yes, there are 189 models available, I wasn’t kidding), and finally chose the ThinkPad X22 2662-7HJ. It’s a Japanese model, so there isn’t an exact equivalent in the States, but it’s pretty similar to the American X22.

Here are the specs.

Dimensions 279.4 x 226.8 x 24.9-30.2mm
Weight 1.64 kg
CPU Pentium III-M 733 MHz
L2 Cache 512KB
RAM 128MB (PC-133 SDRAM)
Video ATI Mobility RADEON, 8MB
Monitor 12.1″ TFT (XGA)
FDD (x 1)
HDD 15 GB
USB1.1 (x 2)
IEEE1394 (x 1)
Modem V.90 (56kbps)
LAN 10/100 Base-T
Battery 4.6 hrs.

I know it’s not the best computer out there, but it’s nice little computer, isn’t it? The main reasons I’m buying it are 1) it’s lightweight, 2) battery lasts pretty long, and 3) the sleek black look.

It will be arriving tomorrow night!!
