In the last month or so, we’ve been getting a bit more serious about looking for names. So far, I think we’ve decided to name all the kids after English conjunctions, preferably coordinating conjunctions or correlative conjunctions which also have profound meanings in Hebrew (subordinating conjunctions are too much trouble). My dear husband has found these two … I am not kidding.
- Either Or — “or” means “light” or “lightning” in Hebrew
- But Also — “but” is short for “batach” (pronounced but-TOCK) meaning “trust” in Hebrew
I still need to look up “for, and, nor, yet, so” and “neither…nor, both…and” in Hebrew to see what they mean.
Please tell me you’re not serious, Emeth. Please.
Or at least you’re planning on staying in a country where English is not the primarily spoken language. :D
How wonderful it would be to be able to sign every letter with “Or Else”!
(Else (Elsa) is in fact a girl’s name)
Yeah . . . just make sure you don’t give your kid a name that gets him made fun of at school. Even if you plan to homeschool, funny sounding names can be traumatizing.
I’m very curious to see what the final name will be…
I will help you with names.
