Tri-Cities Pregnancy Network

One of my friends is doing a walk for life to support her local pregnancy resource center. You can donate, too, however small a sum. Every bit helps. Please click the graphic below to donate.

Steps For Life

I checked to see if there were any crisis pregnancy centers in this area, and there are several. As soon as I get my driver’s licence I’m gonna drive over there. Here is a list of what they need right now.

I really appreciate that they work with churches, also. I need to talk to the elders at church to see if they want to get involved.

Taxes & Teething

We finished doing our taxes almost 2 weeks ago and I’m still happy about it!! I’d been nervous about it for such a long time but when we actually tried, it was so easy and quick I couldn’t believe it. Plus, we’re supposed to get a bunch of money back … I can’t wait!! We used TurboTax and did it online or else it I think it would have been a nightmarish experience … I shuddered just looking at all those forms on all that cheap paper. Eugh. Wonderful baby that she is, after regurgitating all over our clean sheets, Rinah fell asleep and slept through the entire process.

Taxes are boh-ring!!

Ben had a birthday this week and it’s almost been a year since we got married. Whew, man. A year ago, we were engaged, he was becoming legal (that is, turning 21) and I was hospitalized with an IV in my arm.

Happy birthday, Daddy!!

Now, we are paying for a house and getting tax breaks for having a baby. I feel really old …

Sleeping on Mama's back.

… and really happy.

Last night was the first night this week that she slept through the night. Sort of. I got a good 6 hours before I woke up this morning to kicking and clawing and cooing for milk. I think she’s starting her third month growth spurt a little early, because she had been nursing every 2 or 3 or 4 hours around the clock all this week. I think she might be teething early, too, because she’s showing all the signs. She’s been a good baby for the most part, but getting fussier by the day.

Yesterday evening she cried when anyone else held her and stopped crying as soon as I held her. I had sinking soaring feeling as I realized simultaneously that she really knows who I am now and that I’m stuck with holding her whenever she gets upset.

I'm sitting up all by myself!!

She can sit up by herself now. I wonder how much longer I have before she learns how to crawl. I need to figure out how to put video online.

Dancing to Music

She has her Uncle Ben’s sweeeet, shyyyy, sloooow smile … but I can’t get it on camera. My little girl freezes whenever there is a camera around.

Today, as we listened to Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances, she started to shake her head, kicking and gesticulating wildly, and looked so excited that she could scarce contain herself. At the loud parts, she would look surprised and stop moving for a moment, then get even more excited. After listening for a while, she started to blow spit bubbles and talk to me. “Giii. Nga. Mmm. Ah. Mm.” Then I got really excited. She’s never said so many syllables in a row before.

Programming Language Inventor or Serial Killer?

Can you tell a coder from a cannibal? Try to work out which spent their time hacking computers and which preferred hacking away at corpses instead. Go!

I got 9 out of 10 correct. Look at their eyes. The trick is to see which ones have evil dead-fish eyes and which ones have just plain dead-fish eyes.
