Babywearing

I just wrote a great big huge long page about babywearing in response to Dawn’s question.

And while you’re here, do any of you know how to do this tie? I’ve never seen it before and I want to try it. And in case you’re wondering, the wrap is a Didymos Violet Waves.

Update: Of course, Kristen knew about this tie, LOL. Here’s a good video of how to do it. And when I was trying to do this from memory this morning, I made a mistake and ended up doing a 2-shoulder version with my 2.7 m rebozo which I’m REALLY happy about because it’s so short I thought I could only do 1-shoulder ties with it. Yay!

  • Yup. http://www.thebabywearer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39132 That’s Robin and Rose demonstrating (there are pics below all the missing ones.) I have met them as they used to live about 90 minutes or so away!

Ooh, thanks for all the groovy links!

I’m drooling over the Ellaroo now; will have to keep my eye on the secondhand shop at CottonBabies. The colors for their Batik Baby Breeze are making me lust after one of those, too.

I love my Moby, but yeah, it was way too stretchy after Terran hit 15 pounds (which happened way too fast). I picked up a Maya sling at a consignment shop when he was about 18 mos old, but by that time he was too heavy to be comfortable in anything where one shoulder bears the weight. I like our Mei Tei (particularly as it is adorned with a Celtic dragon) but I haven’t been slinging him for many months, as he just got too active. I’m looking forward to getting back into babywearing with #2!
